Photo session with Tara

One of my best friends took these pictures while we were out in California. She is a great photographer, and I am so grateful she took the time to take some pictures of Molly. It was so much fun to spend time with her and watch her. She is very talented.

TuTu

Molly loves to put clothes on her arms and head. Whenever she finds clothes on the floor, she loads herself up. She also loves her Tutu from last halloween, but it is getting a little too small. so I decided to make her one. Yes, me. The one who is terrible at this kind of stuff.

I cant stop smiling because she loves it. She is running all around the house laughing.
(in case anyone is wondering...NO I did not make one for myself. I will continue to live vicariously through her!)

Molly and shoes

Molly loves shoes...or perhaps it should be said that she loves wearing other people's shoes. She isn't particularly fond of wearing her own--she immediately takes them off anytime she gets into the car. However, she loves wearing big-people's shoes. She generally wears just one big shoe at a time (for balance reasons, I suppose), though just recently she has graduated to wearing two...

Frances' baptism

Molly and I went to California for Frances' baptism. I can't believe this little girl is 8 already. She is such a sweet girl and I was so glad to be able to be there.

I thought this was the sweetest picture of my Brother Everitt and Francie. He has a great relationship with his kids. It was neat to watch him calm her nerves and talk to her about what to do.

Cute Family!

More pictures from our trip

Molly and Madeline loved each other. She helped me change Molly's diaper and like helping so much she would tell me about every twenty minutes that Molly needed a diaper change just so she could help.
We also got to spend time with my good friend Tara and her little boys. It was so good to actually spend time with them. Somehow she is always out of town when I am there.

Molly loved the carousel. She was a little hesitant at first, but once we started moving she loved it!

Have we ever mentioned that Molly loves animals?!? She would not leave the dog alone. She was either with him or standing at the window. She calls dogs "waa waa" (think woof woof!). By the end of our stay we were all calling the dog waa waa. Nothing short of an obsession. Thats all I can say!

Stop in Oakland

We stopped in Oakland for a couple of days to spend time with Grana and Tibu. On the way home from the airport we ran in to the zoo, so we decided to stop.

Molly loved the Giraffes and the monkeys. Then she had a melt down. We were only there for a little over an hour, but we had fun while she lasted!
Here she is with Grana looking at the monkeys.

That afternoon we went and saw some horses by Grana and Tibu's house.

No visit is complete without Molly trying on one of Tibu's hats.

Tibu took Molly in to the hot tub and played with the fishies, and then they went for a dip in the cold pool. She wasnt a fan of the cold pool.

He also taught her to throw rocks in the pool. I told her that was an activity she was only allowed to do with her Tibu.
Tibu teaches her all sorts of "Tibu only" activities. Last time we saw him he taught her to throw grapes. Grana gave Molly a grape and asked me if it was okay. I said she could have one, but she will just throw it. Sure enough she ate the cheese and cookies on the plate and then threw the grape. I love it. I have a feeling I will be telling her a lot that she is "only allowed to do that with Tibu".

Happy Birthday Nathan!

While everyone celebrates labor day, our house will be celebrating the birth of my awesome husband!

He is an amazing father. Molly adores Nathan. I love watching her get so excited when he comes home. She follows him around everywhere and generally prefers him over me. They read books and go on walks and spend a lot of time together.

He went out to mow the lawn a few days ago and she was devastated that he was leaving so she sat and watched him.

Every time he would get close to the window she would pop up and start screaming.

I adore him as well. I am grateful for a husband that I not only love but I LIKE him too. He is easy to be around and the most unselfish person I know. He is my best friend and I have almost forgiven him for making me wait two years before we started dating...almost.
Happy Birthday Nathan!

Grandpa Everitt

When we decided to move to Indiana I was excited to be moving so close to my Mom's hometown. My Grandfather was the Dean of engineering over at University of Illinois and after he passed away, the engineering building was named after him. I have not seen the building in twenty years, so we decided to drive over to Illinois.

This is the house my Mom grew up in. I knocked on the door to ask if we could take a picture and she invited us in and gave us a tour. We were able to see a lot of my grandpas woodwork and she even showed us labels in the closet that my grandmother had put there. My Grandma died before I was born, so it was neat to see her handwriting and her love of organizing. Something she and I both share!
The mailbox still says W.L. Everitt!

This is my step Grandma. We stopped in to say hello and had a good visit.

Then we headed over to see his building. While I know this posting is not interesting to everyone, I know my brothers will appreciate it. I felt so proud seeing his name everywhere!

This plaque has some of his quotes on it and captures his personality quite well. Hard to read, but very funny!

Me

Me, My engineer husband and our future engineer. I think Grandpa would approve!
Of all the things I am most proud about my Grandpa, it is the legacy of goodness and kindness he left behind. He had many accomplishments in his life. He changed aviation and radio and the world of engineering, but people who knew him loved him because he was so kind. He was known for getting to know his students and helping them in life, not just academics. He was funny and inviting. He had an open door policy that enticed his students to confide and trust him. I am grateful for the memories I have with him and I wish he were still around. I think we would have had a great time together.
Tomorrow will be 23 years since he passed away.
